最近似乎許多人針對短期系列賽和實力的關係有所爭論，上個禮拜我也用了"It's a short series after all"作為一篇文章的標題，但事實上，如同我在那篇文章中所提過的，這次WBC頻頻爆冷的主要推手還是在於舉辦的時間，而不是因為這是短期的比賽。

福留一棒救老王
在松中率先擊出深遠安打辛苦且緩慢地奔上二壘後，老王決定讓多村採用犧牲觸擊護送松中上三壘，這個觸擊在局數、比數和戰況及日本隊不能輸的壓力考量下來說都是合理的，但唯一的問題就是多村的觸擊能力，從過去幾次的情況來說他的觸擊能力似乎並不好，而結果多村也的確未能成功地執行這個觸擊，這個觸擊只能從結果論來討論，而結果就是多村仍然失敗了。但在多村兩次觸擊未成之後的假點真打就不需要用結果論了，這是個很無意義的舉動，在兩好球之後，相信大部分的人都認為多村不會再繼續觸擊了，這時候的假點基本上用處就不大，而假點的結果就是讓多村的真打難度變高，間接導致多村被一個偏差滿多的變化球給騙而三振出局，後來多村也用手中的球棒告訴老王：「我觸擊成功的機率不會比打出長打高太多。」

Random thoughts from WBC today. (March 16)
1.波古戰第八局波多黎各三比四落後一分時在一出局後攻佔滿壘，Cintron在一好一壞後揮了個空棒，此時球評立刻開始發表「先求碰到球」理論。當時如果一壘沒有人或者是無人出局，我會同意這是該碰球的時機，但是事實上那個時候是一出局滿壘，一個雙殺打就會讓整個攻勢瓦解，這並不是個該只求碰球的時候，而隨即Cintron還真的來了一支遊滾雙殺結束了波隊的進攻。永遠就是這樣短視近利，只看得到眼前或者有形的利益卻看不見背後的成本和風險，可能就是台灣所謂的細膩棒球吧。

McLaren told Martinez, Martinez came out and got the call, making his unusual managerial moves moot. Watching Sadaharu Oh argue through an interpreter was even odder than it sounds. "

It's a short series after all.
美國隊繼昨天差點輸給日本後，今天又被韓國隊擊倒。美國隊至今的表現除了打爆南非的比賽外都不太理想，這跟美國隊從選人、調度、和選手的心態都不像日韓這樣全力全意在求勝確有關連。尤其是在進攻方面，美國打者們大多都還處於春訓的狀態，在比賽中的策略和態度也比較不夠細心，雖然這些打者還是具有一定的實力可以靠長打爆一些分數出來，但是整體的得分能力卻仍然缺乏，如果從各隊面對預賽取得兩勝以上球隊的比賽中有得分的局數比例來看的話，美國隊的球棒並沒有讓他們顯得突出：
