Talented or disciplined?

之前我曾經用一些數據來檢視哪些打者有比較好的work the count的能力，一般來說，比較能夠work the count的打者，或者說plate discipline比較好的打者，通常也會是比較好的打者，CWP2和IOPS之間有高達0.559的相關係數也稍微顯示了一些這樣的情形，不過這當然不是必然的，因此我可以試著透過CWP2和OPS之間的關係來看看有哪些打者的攻擊能力是不如他們的plate discipline的, that is, hitters with bats lag behind their discipline.

在總共285位打者的sample(包括了部分已退休的打者)裡，這種情形最嚴重的前十名分別是：

2.Mark Grace
3.Lawton
4.Chris Gomez
5.Eric Young
6.Darren Daulton
7.Craig Counsell
8.Doug Mientkiewicz
9.Scott Hatteberg
10.Greg Zaun

其中部分是PD非常優秀，不過成績還不到第一流的打者(像打擊姿勢特別的Tettleton、會學Fetters的Grace、和Lawton)，也有一些是PD不差但是打擊很糟糕的Gomez、Counsell、Zaun這類打者。

當然也有一些打者是PD並不突出，但是打擊能力卻很優異的，這類打者的前十名是：

2.Alfonso Soriano
3.Willy Mo Pena
4.Jason Bay
5.Miguel Cabrera
6.Manny Ramirez
7.Ivan Rodriguez
8.Alex Rodriguez
9.Albert Pujols
10.Craig Wilson

跟之前一樣，這份名單中有部分是PD極為糟糕但成績不差的打者，像Soriano、Pena、I-Rod這些who can swing a good bat的打者，以及一些PD平平但是成績很恐怖的打者，they just swing the bat really well。Jeff Francoeur則是在這份名單中的第12名，我們可以看看他需要多久的時間才能夠擠進前十名。
